Arzica Zafferano, a slightly dull brown or sienna, is made by Campo Marzia for the Musei Vaticani.
βIn the Renaissance palette, this color was created based on the image of natural sienna earth (yellow earth) combined with arzica yellow (a yellowish color extracted from herbaceous plants). According to modern documents, it was probably produced from saffron in the stamens of the crocus, and is the most highly valued yellow dye of the Middle Ages. It was a very popular dye, even though its supply was unstable. In fact, the pigment was usually used as a glaze, providing a color with low to medium opacity and low to medium coloring effect. It was mainly produced in Siena, Rome, Sicily, and Germany.β (https://item.rakuten.co.jp/nipinter/cm-mveink/)
